[Introduction]
I traveled to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go for three days and two nights. This is my second visit to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go since I visited them for the first time in September 2014. In addition, I also went to Hida Furukawa, which is the filming locations of “Your name/Kimi no na wa”, a blockbuster Japanese anime film. In this article, I will write about walking around “Old Town” (Sanmachi) as part of Day 2.

Following the previous post, I will walk around Hida Takayama.
Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine etc.
I went away Sanmachi area and moved to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine. Takaya Festival, which was determined to be registered as a UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage in December 2016, is held twice a year in Spring and Autumn. The Autumn Takayama festival is held atSakurayama Hachimangu Shrine.

There are several former wealthy merchants’ houses in this street and they are now kept and showed as museums (Yoshijima Heritage House and Kusakabe Folk Museum).

Hida Print Coffee Shop Baren
First, I took a quick break at Hida Print Coffee Shop Baren.
Hida Print Coffee Shop Baren is a small gallery cafe, which displays local artists’ woodblock prints.

Then, I went around “Old Town” Sanmaci area again.
In the previous article, I took photos of Sanmachi with a wide angle lens (16-35mm). This time, I will take pictures with other lens (50mm and 90mm).

Regarding Hida Print Coffee Shop Baren, the cafe has two floors and each floor has different atmosphere. There are several cafes in Sanmachi area and I recomemend Hida Print Coffee Shop Baren among them 🙂
