[Introduction]
I traveled to Shanghai, China, in late May. If I had been fluent in Chinese, I could have enjoyed the trip more, but I was impressed with a fine mixture of retro and modern elements in Shanghai. In this article, I will write about Shanghai World Financial Center as part of Day 2. It had three observation deck floors with its own characteristics and visitors can capture both “Oriental Pearl Tower” and “Jin Mao Tower” at once from the observation deck.

Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)
Following the previous post, I will continue to walk around skyscrapers in the Pudong District.
As the final destination of the four major towers in the Pudong District, I came to “Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)”.
“Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)” is a 492-meter skyscraper, which was opened in August 2008. It was developed by the Mori Building, a Japanese property management firm, and also called “Shanghai Hills”.
Let’s go into the building.
First, there were exhibits related to the Pudong area.
97th Floor Observation Deck
“Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)” had three floors for its observation deck – 94th, 97th and 100th floor. To begin with, I will walk around the 97th floor.
View from the observation deck.
“Oriental Pearl Tower”, which I visited in the morning, was seen over there and “Jin Mao Tower” was also partially seen.
The observation deck on the 97th floor had windows covered with glass on the ceiling and I heard they are sometimes open when conditions permit.
100th Floor Observation Deck
I came to the 100th floor observation deck.
View from the observation deck.
The corridor of the observation deck on the 100th floor was partially glass-walled.
In addition, the ceiling was mirrored, which created visual effects.
A symmetry composition.
I will move to the 94th floor observation deck.
94th Floor Observation Deck
While the observation deck on the 97th and the 100th floor was a straight walkway, which was also called “Sky Walk”, the 94th observation deck, which was also called “Sky Arena”, had a space where events including parties can be held.
View from the observation deck.
Both “Oriental Pearl Tower” and “Jin Mao Tower” were visible, but it was a little bit difficult to take photos due to reflection through the window.
On the other hand, the opposite side was clear.
The sun started to go down, which reduced the reflection through the window.
There were tables and chairs near the window and I sat there to wait for the sunset.
The sun got down gradually.
Just after the sunset.
Then, light-up has started around buildings.
It was a good balance between the sky color and the light-up, wasn’t it?
I would like to take more photos, but the reflection through the window became stronger, so I decided to leave the observation deck.
Finally, I took photos around the observation deck.
In addition, the view of the opposite side.
Then, I left “Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)”.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about Shanghai World Financial Center as part of Day 2.
As I mentioned in the article, “Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)” had three observation deck floors and each floor had its own characteristics, which I found interesting. In addition, visitors can capture both “Oriental Pearl Tower” and “Jin Mao Tower” at once from the observation deck, and I recommend “Shanghai World Financial Center (上海環球金融中心)” in that context 🙂
In the next article, I will write about evening scene in Pudong as part of Day 2.
