[Introduction]
I traveled to Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Taiwan for five days and four nights in the middle of September. I was impressed by Taiwan when I visited Taipei at the end of April, and I revisited Taiwan in less than a half year. I had some difficulties in gathering information compared to Taipei, but I found there were lots of things to do in Kaohsiung as well. In this article, I will write about Cijin island as part of Day 2.

[Main Part]
The second day of my Taiwan Kaohsiung trip started. As my accommodation plan did not include breakfast, I will go out to have a breakfast.
Breakfast at Xing Long Ju
I visited Xing Long Ju to have a breakfast, which was a 15 minutes away from the hotel I stayed.
I did some research for breakfast at Kaohsiung on the Net before the trip and found Xing Long Ju was often referred to, so I decided visit it.
There was a queue, though it was before 7 a.m.
You can pick up what you would like to eat and then even up accounts.
I ordered Chinese omelet, Tangbao and Shentochan (edible soy milk).
Go to Cijin island by ferry
In the morning of the second day of the trip, I am going to Cijin island, which is located on the west of Kaohsiung city. After breakfast, I moved to Sizihwan by MRT and walked for 10 minutes to move to Gushan Ferry Station. Then, I rode on a ferry to go to Cijin island.
I left for Cijin island.
I went by another ferry that came from Cijin island.
In addition, I saw a large ship like this.
After 5 minutes ride, I reached Cijin Ferry Station.
Go along the Coast by Bicycle
The island is long and thin rectangle-shaped form and I rent a bicycle at Xinyu Bicycle.
There was a cycling road along the beach in the west of the island and I took a ride along the road.
It was something like a movie scene, wasn’t it?
Here is around Cijin Seashore Park and there were several art works.
This is another park, Cijin Windmill Park.
Cihou Lighthouse and Cihou Fort
I also visited Cihou Lighthouse and Cihou Fort, which were located in the north of the island.
To begin with, I moved to Cihou Lighthouse.
Cihou Lighthouse was originally built in 1883 and the existing building was renovated in 1918.
From the lighthouse, you can see Kaohsiung port and Sizihwan.
Then, I moved to Cihou Fort.
Cihou Fort was built in 1875 to defend Kaohsiung port.
Now office and solider rooms are left.
Then, I returned bicycle and went back to Sizihwan by ferry.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about Cijin island as part of Day 2 of my Taiwan Kaohsiung trip.
Cijin island is accessible from the center area of Kaohsiung city and tourists are able to feel a sense of resort island, so I recommend Cijin island as an excursion destination 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Former British Consulate and Shoushan LOVE Valentine’s Lookout as part of Day 2.
