I traveled to Kobe in early March. In Kobe, major tourist spots such as bay area, Kitano Ijinkan-gai and Chinatown were concentrated, which was convenient for tourists. In this article, I will write about light-up of Kobe Great Bridge as part of Day 2.

Kobe Beef Steak @ Mouriya (モーリヤ)
Following the previous post, I came to Sannomiya (三宮).
I considered having authentic Kobe Beef cuisine at least once during my Kobe trip, and there were lots of Kobe Beef restaurants at Sannomiya (三宮), which was the central area of Kobe.
I picked up several Kobe beef restaurants in advance and among them, I visited “Mouriya (モーリヤ)”.
“Mouriya (モーリヤ)” is a traditional Kobe Beef steakhouse. It was built in 1885 and has operated for more than 130 years.
I ordered Kobe beef Rump steak (Course B). To begin with, hors d’oeuvre.
Soup.
Salad.
And Kobe beef Rump, the main dish.
A chef cooked the steak in front of me.
Kobe beef Rump steak with grilled vegetables.
The steak was served into small portion several times and apart from this, rice and coffee were served.
Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)
On the second day evening, I will go to “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)”. I moved from Sannomiya (三宮) to “Port Terminal Station” by Port Liner.
“Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” is a double-deck arched steel bridge that connects the central Kobe area with Port Island.
There was a sidewalk in addition to a roadway, so pedestrian could walk though the bridge.
View from “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)”.
I saw several freight vessels.
I passed “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” from north to south and reached “Port Island North Park (ポートアイランド北公園)”.
“Port Island North Park (ポートアイランド北公園)” is a famous spot to take photos of “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)”, so I will take pictures here.
It was just before sunset.
It seemed the site was also famous for a fishing spot and I saw several people who enjoyed fishing.
Light-up of Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)
I will take evening photos just after sunset, so called “magic hour”. I made the color setting vivid.
From under the bridge.
The light-up of “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” has started.
I started to use my tripod from here.
I saw several photographers.
In “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)”, special light-up illumination is performed sporadically in accordance with cruise ships’ arrival and departure. I checked with the schedule of the special light-up illumination in advance and I visited “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” this day.
The darker the sky got, the clearer the beam became.
A closer looking.
From under the bridge.
I also took photos from the opposite side.
I found this angle was also impressive.
Now I will return to the hotel. I went through “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” again.
The bridge had different atmosphere between day and night.
I moved from “Port Terminal Station” to Sannomiya (三宮) by Port Liner and moved to Motomachi (元町) area where I was staying.
Just like the first day evening (see the related article), I stopped by Chinatown to buy a quick takeout meal and returned to the hotel.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about light-up of Kobe Great Bridge as part of Day 2.
Kobe has a variety of photo spots including Bay Area and Kitano Ijinkan-gai, and I found “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” is as photogenic as such places. In particular, the special light-up illumination is unique and impressive, so if you have a chance to see it, I would recommend you visit “Kobe Great Bridge (神戸大橋)” 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Kobe Oji Zoo as part of Day 3.
