[Introduction]
I traveled to Singapore in late June for the first time in two years. In addition to famous tourist areas, I went around spots I have never been to before this time. While I have lived in Singapore for a year and half before, I find something new whenever I revisit Singapore. In this article, I will write about Orchard Road as part of Day 2.

[Main Part]
Walking around Orchard Road
Following the previous post, I moved from Tanjong Pagar to Somerset, which was located in the east side of Orchard Road. I will walk around Orchard Road from east to west.
I went out of Somerset station and started strolling around Orchard Road.
Around Somerset, there were several shopping malls, including “313@Somerset”, “Orchard Central” and “Orchard Gateway”. They were connected each other.
Here is a bridge that connects shopping malls.
Along Emerald Hill Road, which intersected with Orchard Road, there were several Peranakan shop houses.
I moved west.
This is “Paragon”, which is located at the center of Orchard Road.
I visited there for the first time in two years and it seemed the layout has been changed a little bit.
Actually, “Paragon” is one of my favorite shopping malls in Orchard Road.
“Ngee Ann City” has existed for as a landmark of Orchard Road for a long time.
In “Ngee Ann City”, there are Japanese Takashimaya shopping center and Kinokuniya Book store. So, when I lived in Singapore before, I often visited there.
“Wisma Astra”, next to “Ngee Ann City.
I saw mixed-race people, such as Chinese, Malay and Indian. It’s something like Singapore.
This is “Tangs”, which lay on the opposite side.
If I were asked to pick up just one shopping mall that represents Orchard Road, I would choose “ION Orchard”.
As “ION Orchard” was opened in 2009, it will celebrate the 10th anniversary next year. Even now, its design looks new.
“WHEELOCK PLACE”, which connected with “ION Orchard” through an underground passage, is a glass-walled building.
“Shaw House” contained a movie theater and “Isetan”, a Japanese department store.
In the building of “Shaw House”.
Now I will have dinner. I visited “Tangs Market”, which was located on the basement of “Tangs”.
The foodcourt had a variety of stalls, especially Malay cuisine stalls.
I ordered “Klan Bau Kut Teh”, as Bau Kut Teh is one of my favorite Singapore local food.
I will continue to walk around Orchard Road after dinner.
It was getting dark around this time.
“Lucky Plaza” is a famous spot where travelers can change money with reasonable rates. “Lucky Plaza” is also a favorite spot for Filipino living in Singapore.
I went to “Paragon” again.
The art work looked shiny around this time.
Other snaps.
I moved to “Ngee Ann City” again.
I will continue to take night photos at Orchard Road after sunset and write about it in the next article.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about Orchard Road as part of Day 2.
If there are any foreign countries or areas where you used to live or you often travel, you may have one or two places which will make you aware that you have retuned to the place. In my case, Orchard Road is such a place as far as Singapore is concerned. In particular, when I walked around “Paragon”, “Ngee Ann City” and “ION Orchard”, I strongly realized I have returned to Singapore 🙂
In the next article, I will write about night view of Orchard Road as part of Day 2.
