[Introduction]
I traveled to Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Taiwan for five days and four nights in the middle of September. I was impressed by Taiwan when I visited Taipei at the end of April, and I revisited Taiwan in less than a half year. I had some difficulties in gathering information compared to Taipei, but I found there were lots of things to do in Kaohsiung as well. In this article, I will write about Takao Railway Museum and Pier-2 Art Center as part of Day 2.

[Main Part]
Takao Railway Museum
Following the previous post, I came to Takao Railway Museum, which was located near Sizihwan MRT station.
Takao Railway Museum is a museum where there used to be Kaohsiung Harbor Train Station.
The adjacent land exhibited a variety of trains as Hamasen Railway Cultural Park.
A steam locomotive.
A sleeping car.
There was also such an art work.
You can see how large this is.
I believe all of the visitors are able to enjoy it, whether they are rail funs or not.
Pier-2 Art Center
On the east side of Takao Railway Museum and Hamasen Railway Cultural Park, there was Pier-2 Art Center. Pier-2 Art Center is an art complex where there used to be warehouses and consists of three areas, that is Penglai area, Dayong area and Dayi area.
I started to walk around Pier-2 Art Center from Penglai area. Among several warehouses, I dropped by “In Our Time”.
In the warehouse.
The shop sold general merchandise and there was also a cafe in the shop.
I ordered a cup of chocolate smoothie.
Other snaps around Penglai area.
At Penglai area, there was Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway and I visited it.
In the museum.
Hamasen Museum of Taiwan Railway displays a variety of model railways.
Here is Dayong area.
I would like to ride Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) in the future.
Dayong area was surrounded by artistic warehouses.
85 Sky Tower, which I visited on the first day, can be seen over there.
With an object.
This is Kaohsiung LRT (Light Rail System).
Kaohsiung LRT has been developed with two phases and when I visited Kaohsiung, most of the first phase construction was completed (FYI: two weeks later, the rest of the first phase was finished).
Gang Yuan Taiwanese Beef Noodle and Huada Milk Tea
The area around Pier-2 Art Center, which is called Yanchengpu, has lots of reputable restaurants.
“Gang Yuan Taiwanese Beef Noodle” is often referred as one of the best beef noodle restaurants in Kaohsiung.
I ordered a beef noodle without soup.
“Huada Milk Tea” is said to be the first shop that started to sell tapioca milk tea in Kaohsiung.
I ordered a cup of tapioca milk tea.
Then, I walked around the path around Love River and I will write about it in the next article.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about Takao Railway Museum and Pier-2 Art Center as part of Day 2 of my Taiwan Kaohsiung trip.
Both Takao Railway Museum and Pier-2 Art Center have lots of artistic displays and they are located adjacent each other, so I recommend toursist visit them together 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Love River as part of Day 2.
