[Introduction]
I traveled to Fukuoka, in mid December. While Fukuoka has an image of gourmet town, it has also tourist spots more than I expected. In this article, I will write about flight to Fukuoka with All Nippon Airways (ANA) as part of Day 1. This was my first time to take a domestic fight that had personal monitors.

[Main Part]
It has been a while since I posted the previous article about my Korea Seoul trip, and I will start a new series. I visited Fukuoka in mid December.
I have been to Fukuoka a few times on business, but this is my first visit to Fukuoka for leisure. Winter illumination has taken place at several venues and I will watch them. In addition, Fukuoka is famous for its delicious food and I am looking forward to it as well.
Haneda Airport
I started the trip at Haneda Airport Domestic Terminal. As it was just before the Christmas, a decorated Christmas tree was placed.
The airport was not so crowded, as it was before the winter break season.
As a premium member of All Nippon Airways (ANA), I used “ANA PREMIUM CHECK-IN”, which included exclusive lanes for security check.
I bought a light meal for breakfast after passing the security check.
I had some time before my flight, so I stopped by “ANA LOUNGE”.
Meals were not provided in the ANA LOUNGE of the domestic terminal, but instead it was allowed to bring food from outside, so I will have the lunchbox I had bought earlier.
There was also “Star Wars ANA Kids Lounge” in the ANA Lounge.
Go to Fukuoka with ANA Flight 241
Now I will move to the boarding gate. My flight is “ANA Flight 241”, which will depart from Handa Airport at 7:20 a.m.
I got on board and there was “Star Wars Jet” adjacent to my aircraft.
My aircraft (B777-200) was equipped with personal monitors and a safety video with Kabuki actors was aired just like the Shanghai trip in May (see the related article).
As far as I remember, this is my first time to take an ANA’s domestic fight that has personal monitors. I heard ANA has introduced such aircrafts since November 2019.
The aircraft took on time.
Fortunately, I was able to see Mt. Fuji.
Fukuoka Airport was located near the urban area, so I was able to catch a sight of the city clearer.
As you can see, it was a dynamic view.
The plane landed at Fukuoka Airport. There was a Japan Airlines’ aircraft nearby.
Fukuoka Airport
I passed the boarding bridge and took airplane photos over the window.
As I had enough time, I will go around the airport.
To begin with, I went to the observation deck on the 4th floor.
Unfortunately, fences got in the way when I took photos.
A plane of Singapore airlines, which was my favorite airlines, took off.
While I mainly use a wide-angle lens, I brought a telephoto lens time time.
Then, I moved to the restaurant area on the 3rd floor. I visited “Hakata Motsunabe Ooyama” for an early lunch.
In the restaurant.
I ordered “Motsunabe”.
“Motsunabe” is a Japanese hot pot which is made from beef or pork tripe or other offal. Fukuoka is famous for “Motsunabe” as its local dish.
Move to Hakata Station
Now I will move to Hakata station where I will be staying during this trip.
As Fukuoka Airport was located near the urban area, it takes only two stops from Fukuoka Airport to Hakata station by subway.
I arrived at Hakata station.
I will stay at “ANA Crowne Plaza Fukuoka” for this trip.
The reason why I chose “ANA Crowne Plaza Fukuoka” was mainly it was near Hakata station, which I thought was convenient for sightseeing.
As it wwas before the check-in time, I left some of my luggage and started the sightseeing.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about flight to Fukuoka with All Nippon Airways (ANA) as part of Day 1.
While I had never took flights that had personal monitors so far, I heard both All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) have introduced aircrafts with personal monitors recently. It takes 2-3 hours at most in domestic flights, so basically it’s OK to take ones without personal monitors, but I realized it’s better if aircrafts have personal monitors even in domestic flights 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Ohori Park and Nakasu as part of Day 1.
