[Introduction]
I traveled to Fukuoka, in mid December. While Fukuoka has an image of gourmet town, it has also tourist spots more than I expected. In this article, I will write about winter illumination at Canal City Hakata as part of Day 1. The fountain show and the projection mapping were very attractive.

Canal City Hakata
Following the previous post, I came to “Canal City Hakata” as the final destination in the first day.
“Canal City Hakata” is a commercial complex opened in 1996. It contains not only shops, restaurants and theaters, but also hotels such as Grand Hyatt and Washington Hotel.
To begin with, I visited “Ramen Stadium” on the 5th floor to have dinner here.
“Ramen Stadium” was comprised of eight famous ramen shops from all over Japan and I visited “Nagahama Number One” among them.
In the restaurant. As you can see, there were lots of autographs of famous people.
I had a signture Nagahama Ramen.
I will walk around “Canal City Hakata” after dinner.
As the name suggests, there was an artificial canal in the complex.
In the meantime, a fountain show called “Dancing Water” started.
I found it difficult to take pictures as it was unpredictable when the fountain went up.
Nevertheless, it was amusing as the color changed frequently.
A mother and a child became a good accent.
In addition to the fountain show, a projection mapping “Canal Aqua Panorama” started.
What’s more, this was a special version for Christmas.
Surprisingly, Santa Claus appeared.
His movement matched with the fountain in the back.
Dawn.
Merry Christmas!
The show was over and I will go around “Canal City Hakata” again.
View from the upper floor.
There is an office tower in “Canal City Hakata” and a friend of mine works there. I’m just wondering how she feels about working in such an entertaining commercial complex.
Now the show started again and I left “Canal City Hakata”.
Nakasu Kawabata
I will walk around Nakasu Kawabata area before returning to the hotel. First, I revisited “Kushida Shrine”.
While the shrine was very calm on the contrary to the day time, I saw several visitors even in the evening.
There was an alley with several eateries near “Kushida Shrine” and I found it had a good atmosphere.
Talking of Nakasu, it is famous as one of the major food stands streets in Fukuoka along with Tenjin and Nagahama, and I just stopped by it.
“Kihinkan Hall”, which I visited in the day time, was lighted up in the evening.
As the largest entertainment district in Fukuoka, Nakasu is surrounded by colorful neon signs.
Finally, I took a photo of a retro sign board of “Taiyo Theater”.
Then, I returned to the hotel and the first day of my Fukuoka trip was over.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about winter illumination at Canal City Hakata as part of Day 1.
The fountain show and the projection mapping in “Canal City Hakata” were very attractive. In addition, I was surprised to see Santa Claus in the show. I visited “Canal City Hakata” just in the evening to watch the show, but as a large commercial complex, you can spend the whole day in it 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Marinoa City Fukuoka as part of Day 2.
