[Introduction]

I traveled to Iwakuni, Miyajima and Hiroshima for 3 days and 2 nights in early December. In this article, I will write about Itsukushima Shrine during daytime at high tide. As the shrine is a registered World Heritage Site in Japan, I raised my expectation, but it went beyond my expectation.

Moving from Iwakuni to Miyajima

After I left Iwakuni, I moved to JR Miyajima-guchi station, which is a gateway to Miyajima.JR Miyajima-guchi station

From Miyajima-guchi station to Miyajima, it takes about 10 minutes by ferry.Miyajima-guchi Ferry

There are two companies which run ferries between Miyajima-gichi and Miyajima, and I chose JR West Japan Miyajima Ferry, as the ferry runs close to the O-torii Gate (the great Torii).

[Closing]

That’s it for the article about Itsukushima Shrine during daytime at high tide. I had a long desire to visit Itsukushima Shrine and it was really wonderful and worth of visit. As the shrine and its torii gate are unique for being built over water, seemingly floating in the sea during high tide, there were so many visitors from home and abroad. In this article, I described how Itsukushima Shrine looked like during daytime with high tide. At low tide, I was able to approach the O-torii Gate (the great Torii), and enjoyed different atmosphere. I will write about it in the next article 🙂
