[Main Part]

Imabari Bary-san

Following my previous post about the central part of Imabari city,  I went out to the Shimanami Kaido to see the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. By the way, I mentioned “Bary San” (a famous local mascot character in Imabari) in my previous post and you can see that he wears a crown. Actually, the crown depicts the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. There are several sightseeing spots to see the bridge and I went around the following three spots: Kurushima Kaikyo Observation Building, Itoyama Observation Park and Kirosan Observation Park.

Kurushima Kaikyo Observation Building

First, I visted the Kurushima Kaikyo Observation Building. It provides a closer view of  Kurushima Kaikyo (Strait) and the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, and has an exhibition room about Kurushima Kaikyo and Shimanami Kaido. Also, there is the Sunrise Itoyama, which provides rented bicycles and accommodation facilities, near the venue.

Itoyama Observation Park

Near the Kurushima Kaikyo Observation Building, there is the Itoyama Observation Park, another sightseeing spot to see the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. As the Itoyama Observation Park is located on a hill, you can see the bridge with higher angles. Unfortunately, however, the weather started to turn bad 🙁

Kirosan Observation Park

The final destination is the Kirosan Observation Park. The Kirosan Observation Park is located at Oshima and very famous as a sunset viewing spot on the Shimanami Kaido. Due to bad weather condition, I was not able to see the sunset there. So, I tried to create similar atmospheres by adjusting camera settings.

[Closing]

So, that’s it for the article about the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge on the Shimanami Kaido. This time I just saw the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge due to time constraint. The Shimanami Kaido is a 60 kilometer-long highway exclusively for automobiles that connects Japan’s main island of Honshu to the island of Shikoku. In the future, I would like to run through the highway.

From the next article, I will start to write about Shodoshima Island.
