[Introduction]
I traveled to Seoul, South Korea, in early September. Although I was not blessed with weather at all, I enjoyed the trip as the food was delicious and people were kind. In this article, I will write about evening scene in Dongdaemun as part of Day 2. Dongdaemun is famous as “24/7” city, so the area became more vibrant in the evening.

[Main Part]
Following the previous post, I will take photos of evening scene in Dongdaemun.
Heunginjimun (Dongdaemun)
I will start my strolling from “Heunginjimun”.
“Heunginjimun” was built in 1396 during Joseon Dynasty to protect attacks from foreign enemies. “The Four Great Gates” were developed at the north, south, east, and west ends, and “Heunginjimun” was located in the east, so it was also called “Dongdaemun”, meaning “East Big Gate”.
“Heunginjimun” was lighted up in the evening.
Trajectory with vehicles.
Dongdaemun Market
There were several buildings where wholesale shops gathered.
A river ran around the area.
“Pyoung HWA Fashion Plaza” was composed of lots of clothing stores.
Dongdaemun Fashion Buildings
Down south a little, there were fashion buildings especially for young people.
One of them was “DOOTA MALL”.
All fashion buildings were open until midnight and “DOOTA MALL” was opening until 5 a.m. except for Sunday.
I often saw “LINE FRIENDS” shops in Seoul.
“Hyundai City Outlets” was operated by “Hyundai” group, the largest car maker in South Korea.
“LOTTE FITIN”.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
I came to “Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)” again, which I visited in the daytime.
An artistic object.
On the opposite side, you can see fashion buildings including “LOTTE FITIN”.
“Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)” was designed by Zaha Hadid, who is often referred to as “Queen of the curve”.
Moving to the building.
Looking back.
I felt as if I were in outer space.
There were also sofas where visitors can relax.
Other snaps.
A fancy cafe.
It rained sometimes, but overall I was able to avoid rain.
The staircase was lighted up and many people took pictures.
Finally, I took a photo of the entire building.
Then, I returned to the hotel by subway and the second day of my South Korea Seoul trip was over.
[Closing]
That’s it for the article about evening scene in Dongdaemun as part of Day 2.
Dongdaemun is famous as “24/7” city, so there were lots of stores that start its operation from the evening and the area became more vibrant in the evening. In particular, if you like shopping and are confident in your physical strength, you will be able to enjoy Dongdaemun overnight 🙂
In the next article, I will write about Gyeongbokgung Palace as part of Day 3.
